The Meaningful Day in Rumah Juara

I am very pleased in that day because once again, my social team members and I were able to go to Rumah Juara in the evening 2:30 pm. But before this, all of us gather up in College 1 bus-stop at around 12pm and boarded bus to MidValley to buy the ingredients for the dinner. Yeah! We were going to cook dinner for them. I seldom cooked, maybe just helped my mother to fry the chicken or fish but luckily my team members knew, so that was not a big deal for us.  We had planned to cook fried chicken rice for them with roughly about 30 sets. Therefore, we spent around 2 hours in Aeon Hypermarket in ordered to buy the ingredients and seasoning that we required.

After that, we rushed to Rumah Juara at 2:30pm and reached there around 10 minutes later. The very first thing we did after we reached Rumah Juara were cleaning up the fans, windows, floors and toilet in upstairs and downstairs for both girls and boys home. It took around one hour to finish our job and it was quite tiring actually because it was a sunny and hot day. Next, we started to prepare everything which required for diiner while the kids were having their nap since they just came back from church. At first, we were blur and did really knew how to start, but after a short discussion, we managed had a good start.

Around 6 of us helped in the kitchen while the rest took care and played with the kids. First, we cut the chicken into pieces and fried it for a short time. After that, we started to prepare hotdog, vegetable and cooked the rice too. Actually it was not so hard to cook the fried rice but the quantity was the big problems. We were never ever tried to cook such a huge large amount of food so it was quite hard for us to estimate how much seasoning we needed to put and how long we needed to cook for the chicken and rice. Since we thought that the fried rice was too simple and maybe the kids already bored about it, so we also fried two package of nuggets for them. Luckily, we could cooperated so well and divided our work equally among us, so we were able to finish it before 6:30pm. After that, we also made Ribena juice for them.  After all, we were wondering, will the kids liked what we cooked and did the fried rice really taste good for them.

Around 7pm, they started to have their dinner together and we were cleaning up the kitchen at the same time. When the moment I stepped to the front and all the kids praised about our fried rice and the smile on their faces shown that they really like the food, some of them even eat 3-4 plates. In that moment, I felt sacrificed, warmed and everything was worth. There was no words or sentences can really described my feeling in that moment.

Last but not the least, actually that day was Mother’s Day and I had been busy for the whole day and didn’t manage to call my mother and wish her yet. But I spent my whole day in Rumah Juara, a meaningful place and memorable place. Every time when I saw the cute kids playing around and asked me some questions, I was flashing back about my mother and the moment when I was still a kid, played around in the kitchen when she was cooking and sleep on her legs, it was too meaningful to me and I am very grateful she was still there for me. And I kept reminding myself so that I remember to call her after I finish my work. It was Mother’s Day and that was the first time I am far away from home. Somehow it was quite sad but anyway, I learned a good lesson that we should always appreciate what we had.
